It is expected that the Para Ju-Jitsu will be activated in earnest. Because it introduced a variety of Parasport competitions in line with Paralympic standards.
On Thursday 26th October, the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (President Panagiotis THEODOROPOULOS, JJIF), which held a Ju-Jitsu competition as an official sport of the ‘2023 Riyadh World Combat Games(Here-in-after referred to as Riyad WCG),’ held a weight division in the Para Ju-Jitsu category.
Among the detailed categories of JJIF, the Ne-Waza category, which is similar to the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), was held in a competition by types of impairment.
The games were held in four weight classes, divided by different classifications and grade of impairment.
▲Men’s –73kg(E3/E4)
- Class E3: Complications of Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) or Encephalic Vascular Accident (EVA). Individuals with stroke sequelae that compromise limb mobility in any configuration and are able to remain upright in a sitting position without assistance.
- Class E4: Congenital or other non-traumatic encephalopathies. Individuals with impaired cognition and/or mobility due to neurological diseases of different origins. They include cerebral palsy of any origin.
▲Men’s –84kg(B1)
- Class B1: Total visual impairment. It includes individuals with no perception to light in both eyes with an inability to recognize the shape of a hand at any distance or direction. Parathletes in this category compete with the aid of an audio description of the score and the minutes throughout the fight.
▲Men’s –85kg(A3/A4/P1)
- Class A3: Lower limb amputation. Includes above-the-knee amputees and bi-amputees.
- Class A4: Lower limb amputation. Includes amputees and bi-amputees below the knee.
- Class P1: Total brachial plexus injury. Includes individuals with brachial plexus nerves damaged by stretching, pressure, or cutting, in whom arm mobility, uni or bilaterally, is totally compromised.
▲Women’s –60kg(E4/K4)
- Class E4/K4: Congenital or other non-traumatic encephalopathies. Individuals with impaired cognition and/or mobility due to neurological diseases of different origins. They include cerebral palsy of any origin.
